ground 0
Its true, ground zero is here.
Latch firmly on to the the flag of hope and rise out the ashes of dispair.
Rise up.
Rise up and spread hope to all of the masses.
I am ground zero.
Ground zero is here, now.

Are you there yet?
My friend Peggy and her dh Wayne moved. This has been in the works for a long time now and when they got the go ahead it seems like the move happened overnight. So I wrote her and asked..."Are you there yet?" on Mon, 2 Jun 2008.
Peggy's reply:
We have been here two weeks and are finally getting settled. I have unlimited long distance at no additional charge and fast inter-net it is great. I hope all goes OK for the new baby and it waits till it is time. Tell Ken HI. Itis very nice out here 55 - 70 degrees and cools down to 46-55 at night great sleeping weather. I am sure it will get warmer but right now no complaints. We have a 2 bedroom - 2 bath apt. and it will do. Thank goodness we have a garage for all the extras.

Hi!
Remember hearing that from the kids' on vacation (or any trip out of town)? So.... have you made it to there yet? How do you like your new lodgings?
It's been busy here. Katrina is trying NOT to have the baby yet. They have her on meds to lessen the contractions. She needs to wait until after next Tuesday; then she will be at 37 weeks. She been in and out of the hospital - none overnight - with the contractions. Say a prayer all goes well. The newest g'baby is now 6 months old! His last cardiologist appointment went well. One of the two holes in his heart have closed. One of the main arteries into his lungs have completely opened and the other is a little more open than the last visit.
Ken's been golfing, golfing, golfing. That's fine with me. I've been busy all weekend planting, planting, cleaning, and moving more of my sewing room. Ken's getting the small room for his golf room. I'm taking one of the bedrooms for my sewing room.
Take care!

Before I was a Mom
I don't know who wrote this but...she's a Mom!
Before I was a Mom
I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or
my plants were poisonous
I never thought about immunizations
Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind
and my thoughts. I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom
Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.
Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment,
or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.

Look outside.
Yes, right now.
Look and see
a blue sky so clear (yes, it may be behind some clouds) you can't miss
your heart's truth written there:
You are already who you need to be.
You are already who you need to be.
There is nothing to change,
nowhere to get to,
nothing to fix.
Look up, dear one, and know the truth.

Keeping my mouth shut!
There are more quarrels smothered
by just shutting your mouth,
and holding it shut,
than by all the wisdom in the world.

This is my newest signature on my work e-mail. It's a reminder that I don't always have to say my opinion out loud. Sometimes it's better if I don't!

Tulip Time
Our friend Peggy and her husband have moved to more a temperate climate. What no more wind and snow?? They visited a tulip farm on 4/30/09. I love the gorgeous pictures!
Peggy's e-mail:
"Last Wed. we went to a Tulip farm where they had 40 - 50 acres of tulips here are some pictures."
The azalea bush is their yard is in full bloom! Our bush finally came out in bloom almost a month later.

Sophie's 5th birthday!
From my friend Betty...
Monday was Sophie's 5th birthday. She said to tell everyone thank you for the cards and birthday wishes.
I've attached pictures of her cake with candles (it's a Twinkie that has the middle portion cut out to make it look rounder), her with her cake after the candles have been blown out (and yes, I did sing "Happy Birthday"), and her with her birthday gift (a stuffed toy that is nail "pawlish). She had a good birthday with a long walk, a ride in the car, another walk, a special chicken and vegetable dinner, and then her birthday cake and gift.
We drove to the cemetery to put flowers on my mother's grave (Alene Nesbitt) since Sophie was born on the same day that Mom died. Mom died May 4, 1986, Sophie was born May 4, 2004.
Love to all,
Mom/Betty
